Hey guys, This book actually gave me a lot of good stories about habits and how big of an effect environment has on habits, but that environment can be overcome if needed. I think the story that really stuck out to me was that of the veterans that smoked during the war, but after they came back home, they just stopped altogether. The book really drove in the fact that tiny changes do make a difference and that consistency is the key to making habits, whether you just do a little or a lot, you just need to do it. Like Nike says, "JUST DO IT." Anyways, the 4 laws of this book were: Make it obvious Make it attractive Make it easy
Make it satisfying
These were the 4 laws to making a habit stick. Make it obvious means that you need to make the habit easy to remember and how important environment is. Make it attractive means that you need to either A) give yourself an incentive to do the habit or B) at least have a reason why it's important. Make it easy means that you need to make the habit as easy as possible to perform, you can't have a really hard habit to do because you will most likely never do it. You have to make it easy. Make it satisfying is a lot like the 2nd law, but basically it means that you need to associate it with something that gives you immediate results because the immediate pleasure will help you want to do it again. This law basically says that the habits that give you direct pleasure are usually the worse habits to have, but they can help the better habits stick, if you do it right. I recommend reading this book because habits do make up our lives and we see that with so many different stories. Another example that the book gave was that most stories start as an "ordinary day" that turns extraordinary and extraordinary things are just extra ordinary things because they stem from ordinary days that became different because of a person or event that makes them extraordinary. I found that pretty cool. Next week's book talk is most likely going to be Little Women (Hopefully I can finish it) or else it might be something else.
